Overview

What How Supported Living Works involves

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is support provided in a shared home so you can live as independently as possible with the help you need each day.

If you have a disability and are unable to live independently, SIL may be one of the options available to you. Whether it is included in your plan is a decision made through the NDIS.

How We Help

How we help with supported living

Each area below is set out separately, so you only need to read the parts that matter to you.

What support in a home can look like

Support in a shared home is arranged around the people who live there, with help available at the times of day each person needs it.

  • Help with personal care and daily routines
  • Support to prepare meals and run the household
  • Assistance getting to appointments and activities
  • Support to build skills and take on more yourself

Exploring a home with us

There is no pressure and no rush. Most people visit, ask plenty of questions and take time to picture themselves living there before deciding.

  • Talk with our team about what you are looking for
  • Visit a home and meet the people who live and work there
  • Discuss how support would be arranged day to day
  • Take the time you need before making a decision

Getting Started

How we work with you

Support only works when it is built around the person receiving it. Before anything begins, one of our registered nurses sits down with you — and anyone else you want in the room — to understand your goals, your routine and how you like things done.

From there we write it down in plain language, introduce you to the workers who suit you, and keep checking that the arrangement still fits. Nothing is locked in, and you can change your mind as you go.

  • An unhurried first conversation about what you need and what your plan can fund
  • A written support plan, with workers matched to your routine and preferences
  • Regular reviews with nursing oversight, so your support changes when your needs do

For families

Choosing a home is a big decision. We are happy to answer questions, arrange visits and talk through how supports would work before anything is agreed.
